Default HEADLIGHT TROUBLE

Having trouble with headlight motors, alittle noise but seem to stick when opening or closing. If you turn off and on will open or close. Sometimes when you turn them off left light will stay flipped for a minute or two before it will flip closed. Do I need new parts or some how grease them? If I need new motors any recommendations on where to get rebuilt motors?

Tim, I assume you are talking about your 87.......they are different than on my 91, I think. Someone will come along soon with the information you need. Headlights are relatively easy to work on because you can take them off the car and repair them on your workbench.

Good Luck!

It sounds like the nylon bushing are going out in the headlight motor.I think mid-america has a repair kit for about $10.If the motor is running but the light isn't moving, then it catches and closes, it's the bushings. :chevy

 They changed the internal parts in '88. 87 and back were different, I think they changed the material of the gears.

Check in the Tech Tips section of the Forum, there are many good articles on the subject of headlights and their repair
