Hi all. Have a quick question. I have an 89 stock vette. I'm having an avital alarm installed this week and I was wondering if there are any things I should be aware of (to tell the installer to either do or not do). One thing in particular that I'm wondering is if they will have any problems with the door locks (i.e. is there anything preventing the keyless entry function of the alarm from working properly with the vette even though the door locks are electronic...this is the main function I want out of the alarm?)
hey i just got a viper 690 installed on fri. and i have a prob with my lock. i just pulled the door thing off and moved a tiny stick out of the way and its fine. you should not have any probs.
but what i say and spend a little more and get a viper alarm the best you can get for the money just my .02
Tell him to be careful where he grounds the alarm system. There are very few good grounds on these "plastic" cars.
The geniuses that installed my alarm grounded it to the passenger door automatic lock wire....which freaked the computer out and ultimately fried the alarm.....the installer cheerfully replaced the alarm of course (but not the $300 I spent at the dealership to find out WTF was wrong :smash: )
