They also had seperate courses for different classes of cars and trucks. Each course was supposed to show what the cars can do. The SUV's went off the tarmac into the dirt where GM carved bumps and ditches to test out "off-road" ability.
IIRC (it was a long time ago) they had:
Sports cars: C5, Camaro, Mustang GT, and Celica.
SUV's: Blazer, Tahoe, Suburban, Explorer, Expedition, Excursion, Luxus RX, Benz M-Class, Grand Cherokee, and some others...
Luxury cars: Deville, Catera, BMW 5-series, Benz E300, Lexus LS400, possibly others...
Family cars: Lumina, Grand Am, Camry, Accord, and others (I didn't check out any of these)...
Small cars: I didn't bother to check them out either.
The area was so big that they had buses to take people from one course to another and back to the main tent. They also had some more cars (GM's) on static display, as well as GM spokes people. But NO salespeople.
They also had a really good BBQ lunch. Not really buffet, cause they gave you a ticket good for only one pass at the BBQ line.
Looked to me that they spent a ****load of money. If you get a chance, go! I hope they stop by my area again. :D
Oh yeah, I have heard that other car makers have done similar shows: Benz, Lexus, and most receintly Mazda; where they gave out trophy's to the fastest drivers around their course.
