I'm ready for my next C4 but I can't decide which body type is best. They both have strengths and weaknesses so I need a little help with other peoples thoughts. :yesnod:
(I'm leaning towards the coupe. I have had a vert before in a different make and would just welcome other peoples opionions on the vette verts. This poll is not going to be the final answer, just a tool to help me make a better informed decision.) :blueangel:
If I may suggest, this feature is far too imnportant in basic buying decisions to depend on other opinions. Just take some more time and think about it on your own

Re: Vert vs. Coupe (bradvette)
:iagree: But only on the part about relying on other's opinions. Think about it and get what YOU want. But I'm a ragtop man myself, or will be when I swap my current coupe for a vert next year! :flag
Coupe.
IMHO Verts look hot but I have a hard time getting comfortable in them. Cant really listen to the radio with the top off. Noisy with the top on and if it is hot out and your not going highway speed you will roast.
Also, if you live in a warm climate that could also play a role. I live in the NorthEast.
If your single, well that is a whole different story. Chicks dig Vettes but they love verts.
If it comes down to performance I believe that a coupe will give you a stiffer frame to strap all that HP and torque too.
Oh and a positive to a Vert is if you have a nice exhaust you get to hear it better
Vert by choice. My first was a coupe, now a vert. No comparison in my opinion. I really enjoy my vert, love the warm nights with the top down. You hear your pipes better and greater resale value. Less verts made then coupes. Also, roll bars look cool if your into dragging. :D
Are you going to use it as a daily driver or weekend cruiser? Daily get coupe, weekender get vert. Verts draw more attention, and have higher values and are more rare.
By the way, your poll might as well be asking "Do you have a vert or coupe?" You will have more coupe votes because there are more coupe owners as verts are more rare.
I have had both, and here are the 2 cons of choosing a vert:
1) Overall stiffness is better with a coupe. The vert has more cowl shake (it doesn't have the roll hoop!)
2) Space- The vert has less space and is a little challenging if you and the missus want to go away for the weekend.
With that said the pros far outweigh those two:
1) Top down motoring couldn't be easier. Much quicker than taking the roof off the coupe.
2) Looks. IMHO, the C4 with the top down looks SWEET!
3) Resale. The vert retains value better
A matching coupe and convertible would be ideal. But for those of us who have to choose, the Vert would get my vote. I really like the coupes but the profile of a C4 vert with the top down is a work of rolling art. Oh, don't forget about higher resale value of a vert. :auto:
This seems to come up every week but there really is no comparison. Unless you are into autocross and dragging the vert wins hands down. No flames intended here but i have owned both versions of the C4. C4 coupes look dated. Not dated enough to look classic but too dated to look anything near modern. You put the top down on a C4 vert and the car will hold it's own in styling with most any brand new car still. As someone else mentions the C4 vert with the top down is rolling art. Plus cruising with it down (provided it isn't over 90 something degress with 100% humidity can't be beat. Taking the targa top off the coupe is not the same or even close to being the same. There is less storage space but me and my very high maintenance fiancee can still fit everything we need for a week away in it. I have even loaded up with groceries at BJ's with it you just have to be creative. Resale is better, it looks better, it feels better with the top down, if you are single chicks will dig it better (i've had both i know). If you are really into racing it's a whole different story but if you are the average owner you gotta go vert. There is no comparison.
I owned both, a 95 Polo Green coupe and a 96 Polo Green vert. The vert drove and rode better. The vert is useless for anything other than cruising. I rate the top down cargo capacity close to ZERO. If I were buying a C4 today I'd try and find a 96 LT4 6-speed vert.
Buth either choice is good, you have to decide. Good luck.
