Thinking about getting either the G-Tech performance computer, or the one by Escort. They give 0-60, 60-0, 1/4mi. etc. times. Does anyone use them? Are they accurate? I'd like to use one while running a 1/4 at a track to see how accurate they are before buying one, but doubt a store would let me.
So, if you have experience with either or both, let me know your opinion. At $250, they'd pay for themselves vs track running all the time.
I've got the cheaper G-Tech ($140). It's a PIA to mount correctly, the newer dual accelerometer versions take care of that.

To run the 1/4 mile on the street you have find a place where you can come to a complete stop, accelerate to over 110MPH at WOT, then slow down safely. Here in the Chicago subarbs there's not many places to do this without risking death to myself and others.
FWIW, because of my perceived safety issues, I don't use my G-Tech for anything other than 0-60mph times now.
The G-Tech products are accurate as long as you have a straight and LEVEL road to run on. Any slope (up or down) is going to skew the results. But if you use the same road you will get consistent numbers.
As for the G-Tech Pro and Competition, get the new competition, I've owned both and the new product has self leveling which is great and also has a host of new features.
I'd say it's worth the money but you'll still need to hit the track once in a while to see how your street is skewing the real numbers.
(i.e. I run low 13's high 12's but used my G-Tech on a street that said I ran 12.2, it was sloped down hill)
