Default C4: Engine Block Number?

I am going to look at a 1996 CE Corvette on Friday.

With an older car like a C3, it is considered important to have "matching numbers". Is there a way to verify for matching numbers on a C4?

Should I just look for a engine block number? What else should I verify? Where do I find the engine block number on a C4, and how does it compare to the VIN?

Also, I see many people show a sticker somewhere in the car with the RPO codes of the vehicle listed. Where is that sticker located in the car?

FYI - I believe everything to match, as authentic given the history of the vehicle. I am just paranoid and want to check everything. :smash:

The RPO sticker is under the console door. As far as the block casting numbers, first I wouldnt think a 96 would have a different engine yet. I dont know the location of the number but I dont think the late ones are date coded, just numbered.
