I was looking at my original window sticker today and noticed my car has the Z52 suspension package. I always presumed it just had the Z51 so I was kinda suprised. but what is the difference between the two?
Z52
1. Base spring rates.
2. Base wheel rate/size.
3. Base rear swaybar, same front swaybar as Z51.
4. Base front lower bushings.
5. Bilstein shocks (not the Z51 valving though)
6. some years the Z51 was restricted to manual coupes
Basically a in-between suspension option, Z51's springs are very rough on your ride, and the base suspension is soft and doesnt handle nearly as well.
Z51 is preferable for an autox car, not for a street cruiser, mine is Z51.
You'd be suprised at how many came with Z-52's compared to Z-51's and stock. I don't know the numbers exactly but it's somewhere near 60% or so. I have the Z-52 myself and I still think it's great but it's starting to get really rough...I thik it needs a "once-over".
