I was out last night in the Vette on my way to somewhere or other when I started hearing this strange sound that could best be described as a loud metallic ping followed by a high pitched hissing reverberation. I heard it a few times and then noticed a guy in a Mustang slowly pull up on my right. He gave me a smile and a little wave, then slowly pulled a way. I had to take a right at the next light and he continued on. Thinking about it afterwards, I was wondering if that could have been a Nitrous setup in that Mustang. I've seen them but I've never actually heard one, so I wouldn't know. Any ideas?
Sounds like a Paxton supercharger that easily and "affordably" fits onto those 5.0s. I took on a 5.0 a couple years back not knowing he was running a Paxton....as soon as he got about 1/8th mile in front (which didn't take long) I turned and went a different way. It didn't even seem like I had my foot to the floor, and I even thought I had stalled for a second. Had humble pie for dessert. :(

Yeah, someone else I mentioned it to thought the same thing...
EDIT:
Actually, I showed my wife the photo in fiberglasscoffin's post (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=613715) and she said the Mustang was doing the same thing. Guess it was N2O...

My nitrous never made any noise other than a very quickly revving engine...but...it did seem to make the exhaust smell a lil funny...at least that's what I was told by the guys behind me!
