Default 1996 Corvette

I just purchased a 1996 Corvette (with 38K miles). I am going to have the fluids changed out, so that I know they were done.

Here is what I was going to have the Chevy dealer do.
1. Engine Oil (Royal Purple Synthetic w/ AC Delco Filter)
2. Coolant (Flush)
3. Differential (Synthetic Fluid.)
4. Manual Transmission (Synthetic Fluid and Filter.)

Anybody recommend any brand vs. another for coolant, differential or tranny?
Any other service you recommend having done?

Engine Oil
Tranny
Coolant Flush
Diff

That's about it for me...tell them to CLEAN the rad too...a C4 rad is a hoover when it comes to picking up every leaf and piece of paper on the road!

After I had mine flushed and cleaned...the temp when driving doesn't move off 185ish.

BTW Sting...time for a new name!!!

Yep, time for a new username! I would also suggest having the fuel filter, brake fluid and power steering fluid changed. I used the BMW oil in the tranny and it shifts smoother than before - read about it here http://www.zfdoc.com/index.htm I used Mobil 1 Synthetic with the GM additive in the rear end. Enjoy that new ride!

I just prefer Mobil 1...

2. Coolant (Flush)
depending on where you live, you may want to consider 70/30 instead of 50/50... more water, cooler running engine!

3. Differential (Synthetic Fluid.)
Gordon Killebrew recommends using 2 bottles of additive to the rear fluid.

4. Manual Transmission (Synthetic Fluid and Filter.)
There is no filter on the manual tranny... http://www.zfdoc.com does offer a trick manual tranny cooler kit, tho. :D I use the BMW Castrol TWS 10-60 synthetic. Good stuff.

replace hoses (the coolant just rotting in there is not good) and belt. check for oil leaks - around the rear main, front main and transmission.

flush and replace the brake fluid, clutch master/slave and powersteering.

For brake fluid, I recommend Valvoline Synpower. Great stuff!!!

For the powersteering flush... B&G products has a couple of interesting flush tools... 1 is for the PS... pumps fresh fluid in whilst removing the old. Good thing... I did mine, and it really did quiet things down.

when doing the coolant flush, remove the knock sensors... they are the block drains... gets all sorts of gunk out.
