3-piece wheels? Why?
I just discovered that the rims on the 86 are a 3-piece design. Unfortunatley I did not know this before I started removing the bolts around the outside and the tires went flat and will not take air anymore. Oh Joy.
Anyway, is there a reason for this design? I called Kinesis Motorsports who took over the Etoile design that is on the 86 and they say that a lot of Porsches and BMWs like to race with their style wheels. Why? Is the design better than the 1-piece that is used everywhere else?

If you curb your expesive 3 pc wheel you usually can get away with just replacing the outer section. You can have them built to the offset and size of your choice. They are usually very light which is always good for racing.
