Am I crazy!!!!!
Here's the deal, I got rid of my 92 and bought the Z back in the beginning of the year. While I really love the Z, I also really miss the C4. The Z is almost too good. It's relatively quiet, rides very comfortably, is very smooth in it's power delivery and goes fast without seeming too. The C4 on the other hand, really had the feel of an all out sports car. You had to make sacrifices to drive the car, and it really felt like you were part of the car instead of sitting in/on the car. Also, even though it was slower, it really felt like it was going faster (probably partly due to the exhaust). Finally, for some reason, I just like the looks of the C4 a little better, especially when they are lowered to the limit like mine was.
So here's my dilema, should I get rid of the Z and find a C4 that I'll really like, say maybe a ZR1, or should I mod the Z06 to try and get it to have some of the same feel as the C4.
Tough call....
I love the C4 looks better than the C5. The only C5 I could see getting rid of my C4 in favor of, is the Z06. If you can find a ZR-1 that you like, if I were you, I would look at the ZR-1. I know the Z06 is the new King of the Hill, but you just don't have all the sex appeal that the C4 ZR-1 has. Just my opinion.
:seeya
keep the Z06. Its a better car all the way around. Like you I prefer the looks of the C4 over the C5, but not enough to go back from a Z06! I'd wait, set some money aside and go out and buy a nice C4 to 'play' with. With some of the deals other there now, you can pick up an early LT1 for less than $10k (I got my '94 for a bit over $9k). Have the best of both worlds, a very fast C5 that's good for a daily and a fast C4 to mod out till your hearts content. Just my 2 cents worth.

Re: Am I crazy!!!!!
Seriously guys, it's not a joke. I know most of you probably think I'm nuts  , and maybe I am, but it's a serious question. Of course, I guess I could always get a LOUD exhaust and T1 suspension kit for the Z, and then maybe I'd be a little happier.
Sounds to me like you should get a ZR1. The reasons you stated for not being in love with the C5 (even though it is a Z06) are similar to the reasons I bought a LT4 and not a C5. Some people find it hard to believe I preferred the C4 over the C5 too, but I'm making the payments so I bought what would make me happy. Good luck in your decision, you really can't go wrong.
Your not the first person I've heard that got rid of the C4 for a ZO6 and missed the old one. I think you would be happy if you bought an older C4 and played with it. The ZO6 really is a great car. Sleep on it for a while...... ZL1's are pretty special too

By all means...get rid of the Z. Score a seriously sick ZR-1 instead and mod the f*** out of it. I agree....C4's just have the look. And I guarantee a well modded ZR-1 would smoke the **** out of your Z if given the opportunity. Plus it looks cooler. For that, I wouldn't say you're crazy, just logical.
I wish I had your problem. A friend just bought a 2002 Z06, 4,000 miles, chrome Z06 wheels, red black interior. He paid $38,000 cash last week. The guy that slod it lost $17,000 on the car. Late model cars are big money losers.
Its too late to turn back now. The Z06 is a beauty, but losing $17,000 on resale is stupid!
I love the C4 for the same reasons, but have to say that the Z06 is very sweet! I'd love to have one myself. If you're intending to mod the Z06, including a new exhaust system, then sell it and find something else. That titanium exhaust sounds great and was put on there for a reason - to cut down on the weight. I've seen a good handful of Z06 folks ripping of the system for something that I think doesn't sound all that much better and weighs more. Just another .02 worth.
