GS vin #'s
I was told (along time ago)that every vin number for a 96 GS vette are the same except for the last four digits(cars 0001-1000) I believe this to be true but I then got to thinking how do they distinguish between a coupe and convertible?
Also is there any other production year vette has its own identifiable string of vin numbers? Say for example a zr1

This site actually has a couple mistakes.
Under last 6 digits of the VIN this site says "Production Number starting with 100001 and up". Not true. Last 6 digits are 600001 and up to 601000.
It also says the body type is the 6th/7th digit of the VIN. It is actually only the 6th digit.
