Wheel refinishing
Hello all,
my wheels look like :U and are in dire need of refinishing. The clear coat is chipped and the aluminum is oxidizing. The guy that had the car before me must have done donuts in a pee gravel field :nono:
I remeber seeing a post a few months back, but am unable to find it now. Can someone help me find it? :blueangel: Or give me guidance on how restore my wheels to :cool:

There is a place in Oconto Wisconsin that will buff your wheels to a chrome finish. They do a lot of wheels. I had really bad alum factory wheels done there a while back, came back looking like chrome. Never did clear coat them, just polished now and then.

I'm assuming you don't have chromed wheels.
Get some aircraft stripper @ Auto Zone. I think you can get either a liquid or the aerosol can.
Spray it on your wheels and let it sit for about 5 minutes. The you can take one of those plastic putty knive's and scrape off the clear coat.
Once the clear coat is off, polish with Mother's Mag wheel polish.
I did this for both my '84 and '85 wheels and they looked much better with a little elbow grease.
