Transmission Problem
I was changing my rad when I noticed one of the lines going to the rad had what appeared to be transmission fluid in it. This seems to be very bad. Any thoughts? :cry

Re: Transmission Problem (1986coupe)
It's transmission fluid alright. But not to worry, as long as it's coming out of the 1/4" lines and not the upper or lower water hoses. It's because that's how automatic trannies get the oil cooled, by circulating it through the rad.

Re: Transmission Problem (1986coupe)
Heck, if I got worried every time I saw some tranny fluid on the pan, ground, etc. I'd just bring the car to the recycling lot. I have had a steady tranny fluid leak for about 10 years now. It usually drops a dime size spot if left parked 2 days and a dinner plate size spot if stored for the winter. I have been told and found out that tranny fluid leaks are very common in C-4's (at least early c-4's). Could it be coming from another area? Unfortunately my mechanic said the only fix is to drop the tranny, (about $1000 if combined with a rebuild by my mechanic). I'm at 93k now so I will wait it out til I need that tranny rebuild then have it all fixed at once. Til then.....do they make diapers for Corvettes?
