When my son had my 93 out tonight trying to impress one of his girlfriends, when he called and asked if I had ever noticed a burning smell. I said no (now I'm concerned). Long story short. The heater hose split. Question - Are these preformed hoses or will any 5/8 and 3/4 hose work. It's tough trying to fix it when Im in VA and he's in MA.
i havent noticed any precurved hosing on my 92,hard to say just which hose and where it blew huh.
would it be possible for him to get to a dealership and try and get a correct fit one there?
if not im sure any standard heater hose would get you by for awhile.
be nice to get a black one with the gm white print on it and all but doubt if thats possible.
be sure and have him use the air bleeders a little and also get some good rags handy to ensure nothing runs down onto the opti when bleeding.
man, that would be a drag to not be there. :(
:iagree: Depends on which hose. Should not be to hard to find hoses though. And like stated before, hope it stays out of the opti especially if your 93 has the old style opti.
I just replaced all my radiator/heater hoses. Used GM replacement for all of them, every hose was preformed. It was somewhat expensive but worth it for the peace of mind. Good luck.
good to know oly-did they have the white lettering on em like the originals?
Just went out to check.... the radiator hoses don't but all the heater hoses and the TB hose have lettering on them. One of the heater hoses has a check valve (or something) in line. It wasn't a difficult job but it was time consuming. I flushed the radiator and block also. New serpentine belt too.
Bob, drop me a line if you're looking for the preformed hoses from the heater core to the TB and the heater core to the waterpump. I've got a pair and because I'm changing to the 95 design. Ransome :steering:
I'm installing this with the later front cover and waterpump housing which requires the later hoses. It also makes it easier to bypass the TB. I have a pair of brand new hoses (GM) that I can make you, or anyone with a 92, a good deal on.
