On our way to our weekend getaway, my girl and I drove through the booming metropolis of Redmond, Oregon (look it up). They were having an old car cruise-in through the streets of 'downtown', complete with police directing traffic, and the sidewalks lined with the locals. I must say, there were some very fine rods. A Sah-weet 67(?) Camaro RS, among some other beauties. The cruise-in had control of the left lane, and traffic had the right lane, where I was. Well, there must not have been any Corvettes in the cruise-in, cause I got some major stares, points, and thumbs, and even one kid (10-14yrs) pointed and shouted "Oh Yeah!" right to me!I thought it was awesome! I think I need another one of these things!
Re: Another reason we drive 'em (atotalnincompoop)
I had the opposite reaction. Went for a cruise with a friend in a Porsche and another in a Viper. Dang that Viper gets all the attention. People would try to speed up and stay beside him to look at it. Some grabbed cameras and took pictures out their windows. When we were at a stop in a parking lot cars circled like sharks to have a look. Poor Vette was just the ugly step sister at that ball!
Probably the rarity factor, although lately around here I see more Vipers than C4s. Nobody seems to care about the snake anymore, but fifty years of Corvette legacy isn't just going to fade into oblivion. People go freaky about 'em. I do too and I've got one.
