The remote for my 94 convertible was working just fine until the next time I tried to lock the doors (one hour later). I then walked back up to the car and the only thing it would do is unlock the passenger door after pushing the door button on the remote. Several attempts were made without success. I then tried my spare remote only to be palgued by the same results. New batteries were installed. A check of my shop manual didn't give me a clue. Did I do something (?) or do I have a specific identifiable problem? Needless to say, I am frustrated. Any help would be appreciated.
I wouldn't rule out a bad driver's door lock actuator......
Especially if both remotes only unlock the passenger side.
:iagree:
The PKE can be programmed to automatically unlock both doors or just the driver's door, but not just the passenger door. Does it automatically lock both doors and honk the horn when you walk away from the car? This indicates that you have the PKE feature on.
It has the PKE feature and did automatically lock the doors and honk the horn as you walked away and opened them as you approached. All of a sudden it stopped working and does nothing, except unlock the passenger door when you hit the remote button. I didn't do anything to cause this that I was aware of and both remotes act the same. Drivers door actuator bad? Thanks.
Try this: put the key in the ignition but do not turn it on, while the key is in the ignition push and hold the door button until the locks cycle. This should change the what the door button unlocks. It SHOULD open either the drivers side only or both at the same time. Hopefully this helps!
From what you describe you have the PKE disabled. (Only passenger door will unlock). How ever, if you replaced the batteries, you now have to reprogram you transmitters. Look up in your owners manual on how to reprogram them.

It sounds to me like the PKE feature is disabled. Check the owner's manual as it contains instructions as to how to enable the PKE. From memory it seems to me to enable the PKE again you need to push the "door" button on the remote a couple of times to cycle the locks while in range of the PKE receiver. If this does not work you might try reprogramming the transmitters based on the programming instructions listed in the manual. :seeya
Does the unlock/lock botton on the driver door operate the lock?
:iagree: That will tell you if the actuators are working.
Everything sounds normal to me.... PKE is just disabled. Walk up to the car and hold the DOOR button for 2 seconds. Door locks will cycle and PKE should be re-enabled.
Pressing the door button on the fob will unlock the passenger door *only*. This is specified in the manual.

I let the wife use the car last night, and this morning I had to re-enable the PKE. She must have accidentally turned it off, it's easy to do. Hope you have it working by now.
Thanks for all the advice and input. The PKE was disabled! Found out my wife used the Vette and accidentally disabled it somehow. I tried the two second hold on the remote to cycle the locks and it works properly now. I feel somewhat embarassed that it was so simple to fix! Thank all of you very much. I do appreciate the responses received. What a great site!!
