Allright, I have the opportunity ot pick up a 35th anniversary in good condition with 70,000 miles on it for $11,200 Does this sound like a fair deal? The market is bad for sports cars right now, but this doesn't seem too bad. I haven't looked at it yet, so I can't give specifics on the condition, but what are your thoughts.
Also, I'm and LT1 guy, so what should I look for on an L98 or in general on an older C4.
Thanks,
Preston

=Agent-Smith= has a 35th, got it with 68K miles on it, ask him how much he paid, boy did he get a deal, I don't wanna post it on here and then have him get mad at me for it, though he is my cousin...
Sounds about right, check that the 35th emblems are on their, their gettin pricey / or out of production. check like you would an LT1 car, start cold and start hot ok, sounds from steering rack / pump, trans shift OK, heating and ac control panel (elect) working allright, heating and cooling fans come on and off at right temp, check bose sound sys. then turn it off so it doesn't mask other noise. power ant, third brake light, check everything in eletronic dash, tach, spedo, other gages / switches, all exterior lights, abs does a self test at about 6 mph. fuel pressure, ect, ect,
good luck, let us know how it goes.. :seeya

Sounds a little high for that mileage. From what I've seen the 35th package isn't worth that much over a regular '88. I paid 9.5K for mine last year, came with the c5 wheels and new tires to boot.

Well, I just got done looking at it, and it is in need of some work. It has new carpet and the seat covers are relatively new; although the drivers is showing wear. Besides those things, it needs a cleaning bad. I can't imagine selling a dirty car! It needs tires, the weather stripping could use a lot of repair or replacement, the hood release doesn't work right, and the hood has a stress crack above the hood latch on the driver's side. All the emblems are in good shape, except one wheel emblem is missing. Some nicks and scratches on various areas but nothing too bad.
I'll have to think about it some more, as it may be a good buy for less money.

OK, I'd say that price is too high for a "fair" condition 35th.
Last year Vette Magazine listed '88 coupes in "fair" condition at about $6,750. Since the valued the 35th at 20-30% more that would have put them in the $8,100-$8,775 range. Drop that by another 3% for annual depreciation and you see that 35th is overpriced.
About 3 1/2 yrs ago I paid $13.9 for mine with 86k miles on the clock but it had all new tires, engine was spotless, paint was in good condition, all emblems were in tact. Though it did need weather stripping, seat covers and some paint nicks touched up.
