Default Ever do something this stupid?

Just tried to compile a comprehensive list of stuff I've fooled with on my car over the past few years.
:mad

From front to back:

Installed front license after being scolded by trooper
Replaced crumpled center air dam section
Trimmed air dam height 1/2 inch
Filled, sanded and buffed stone chips
Replaced headlights with disintegrating silver
Cobbled broken front side marker light bracket
Disconnected horns due to touchy switch
Rewired electric fans to run while ignition switch is on
Added water wetter to coolant
Retrofit factory air cleaner with three-element 'claw'
Cleaned MAF sensor
Straightened bent power steering fluid cooler
Replaced power steering fluid with synthetic
Replaced worn serpentine belt
Replaced worn serpentine belt tensioner and idler pulley
Replaced worn alternator (twice)
Retrofit leaky water pump with electric unit
Sealed and vented opti-spark distributor
Disassembled and cleaned throttle body and IAC valve
Bypassed throttle-body coolant passage
Paid shop to retrofit factory exhaust manifolds with ceramic 'shorty' headers
Replaced functioning ignition coil
Replaced aging spark plugs and wires
Replaced functioning PCV valve
Adjusted valve lash
Painted and lettered fuel rail covers
Disconnected CAGS relay
Replaced tired battery
Replaced fuel filter
Detailed engine compartment several times
Changed manual transmission and differential lube
Polished etching out of instrument cluster lens
Worked lok-tite into droopy mirror
Removed visors
Tightened loose sideview mirrors
Repaired broken brush spring in both window lift motors
Replaced cracking side window weatherstrips
Coated deformed roof weatherstrip with RTV
Sanded off weathered acrylic top clearcoat and buffed to perfection
Fabricated captive acrylic top bolt
Fabricated doormat floormats
Installed sill protectors
Replaced disintegrating center console door
Replaced missing pin in driver's seatback lever
Filled cracked parking brake button with epoxy, re-bent rod
Fitted bronze bushing to 'egged' parking brake lever
Replaced crumbling interior hatch trim
Replaced split hatch weatherstrip
Replaced missing top storage latch lever
Detailed interior several times
Replaced rear wheel bearings
Replaced driveaxle universal joints
Replaced broken rear monoleaf
Detailed rear suspension
Cleaned and lubed antenna lift, replaced stuck/bent mast
Fabricated backing plate for broken fuel door hinge
Shortened fuel cap vacuum relief spring
Paid shop to retrofit factory mufflers with low-restriction units
Installed pipe plugs in outboard exhaust tips

And some general purpose stuff:

Replaced worn and mismatched tires
Painted lug nut caps
Replaced decent shocks
Replaced worn brakes
Buffed out swirls and scratches
Replaced several burnt interior and exterior bulbs
Placed felt dots under anything that rattled
Detailed exterior countless times
Changed the engine oil once or twice

I still have a crapload of stuff to 'improve' but believe it or not, I can actually see a light at the end of the tunnel.

:D

It's obvious you enjoy your car and take a lot of pride in it.

I enjoyed making my list......

From front to back:

Installed front license plate
Serviced K & N air filter twice
Fushed radiator and block twice
Added water wetter to coolant
Replaced all radiator hoses and heater hoses
Replaced thermostat
Straightened bent power steering fluid cooler
Replaced worn serpentine belt
Had the water pump and optispark replaced
Had the aging spark plugs and wires replaced
Had worn brakes replaced
Had all 4 wheel bearings/hubs replaced
Installed anti-rattle clips on front brakes because the shop that did the brakes didn't know about them
Replaced dead battery
Replaced fuel filter
Changed manual transmission and differential lube
Replaced center console door latch spring with small foam block instead of crappy little spring that breaks
Detailed interior a couple times
Replaced rear wheel bearings because I thought the noise was from the rear wheel bearings that had been replaced 2 years earlier but it was half shaft universal joints
Replaced half shaft universal joints
Replaced rear spring cushions
Replaced worn shocks
Replaced antenna mast
Paid shop to reinstall flowmasters the previous owner removed because they were too loud (I didn't know that was possible... exhaust "too" loud)
Replaced worn tires
Had 4 wheel alignment twice
Buffed out swirls and scratches
Detailed exterior countless times
Changed the engine oil and filter every 3000 to 5000 miles (Mobil 1 and K & N oil filter)
Had rear hatch tinted
Installed wind deflectors on sideview mirrors
Replaced left rear side marker light

Things that still need attention:

A/C doesn't work
Turn signal stem needs to be replaced (left turn okay, right turn requires tweaking to make it work)
Ignition switch needs attention (Will not stay in ACC position)

I've gotten the impression that a lot of you Corvette owners are at best "weekend warriors" and never take the vettes out any other times (if even that often).

I can't imagine that many things going wrong on a vehicle that (unless you actually DRIVE yours), hardly ever sees the light of day.

I'd have to go back to work if I had to do that much to my ride. heh heh heh ;)

My Vette is kind of like musical chairs.....fix one thing....another breaks. But I drive it every day and fix it every weekend. It is a life changing experience....(not to mention a marriage changing experience)

Rocketfinger, What did you use to trim your air dam? I've replaced mine and am now tearing up the new one on these stupid rolled curbs getting in and out of my driveway.

Same here, that's why I cut it down. Started with Uncle Dremel fitted with the table and fence, but that was extraordinarily difficult to keep from sinking in, so I switched to combination shears and was fairly cautious about keeping the height consistent. Leveled it afterwards with a file, but that tends to raise fuzz. There's a couple ragged spots left over from the dremel attempt, but it's so far under there and so poorly lit that it looks perfect.

I keep a set of tables in MS Word format with a list of mods, fixes and enhancements along with vendor, price, date and HP gain.

It's amazing how much time we can log in that way in just a few years, but I love working on or moding my Vette so that's fine with me.
