Don't know if this happens to anyone else: In the middle of a trip the Service Engine Light comes on - everything's working fine. Next time you start the light comes on, then goes off and stays off (like it's supposed to). This has happened 2 or 3 times - is the problem with the light, is it just a fluke, or are there problems down the road??
My 95 did that a couple of times during hot weather & a long run. Set a code 32 (egr). Only comes on when conditions are as above. Checked the system & all was ok. Who knows?
Sounds like an EGR problem to me too. The code will set only at steady state (i;e, a long highway run) because the computer must see the parameters repeatedly. It'll be in history if you check. Look for a leaky EGR valve. Good Luck :seeya

I agree.... if the code 32 comes on at start up, it's the EGR relay... if it comes on after a while, it's the EGR valve itself. They don't just leak, tho. they usually fail to open when requested! cheap, DIY fix and only about 35.00 to buy.
Thanks for the info - if the shop runs the dianostic when the light is OFF will the problem still show up? Or do they check the history (or should they?)
It shud have set a history code, although strange things sometimes do happen. Mine is still in there & I can't get it out with the auto=xray. Only way to find out is to check & they should check for codes.
