1. "Packing" a C4 convertible is great fun. There's no room! And, if you put the top down, theres 50% less. My wife and I finally managed to cram in the essential overnight items and set off from CT. about 4 p.m. Friday. We ran into a vicious line of thunderstorms in Pa; despite some hydroplaning and almost 0 visibility, the LT4 soldiered right through, and the top didn't leak a drop.
2. Traffic Sat.am wasn't too bad; we were registered for "Fun Parking" inside, and parked at the CE Registry, directly across from the amazing display of 53 '53 Corvettes. The huge line of silver CE's was pretty impressive too!
3. Corvettes @ Carlisle is a really well run and organized event; it shows co-owner Chip Miller's devotion to all things Corvette. His display of personal Corvettes was jaw dropping.
4. We left late Sat. afternoon, beautiful weather, top down all the way back home. Quite a few other Corvettes in transit. Car ran perfectly; once I played around with the various lumbar adjusts, I found the '96 a very comfy, surefooted and of course rapid means of transit. It was our first trip of any length, and it was great fun. Overall mileage for the 540 mile trek was 24.3 mpg., impressive when you figure in the stop and go in Carlisle, and of course the full throttle banzai blasts out of tolls and rest stops.
It was a real nice trip. Sorry we missed the group photo; I bought a nice watercolor print of a pair of '96 CE's, signed by the artist Dana Forrester, which should look great when framed. He does beautiful work. This was about all we could fit in the car! Hope everyone had a great time, looking forward to next year.
We got to Carlisle about 9:30 AM Saturday and were backed up for miles in traffic on 81 and on RT11. It was worth every minute of it though. Great show !!!!!

Re: Some Carlisle trip notes.. (bobcal)
I drove in from Michigan and hit that same thunderstorm. I decided to pull off and find a motel at of all places"Johnstown" which was the site of the great Johnstown flood! Great choice! Carlisle was great and worth the trip! :)
The '91 was won by a woman from the Spindle City Corvette Club in MA.
How many tickets numbers were announced before they had a winner? If her ticket number was the first one drawn, then I won't feel so bad for not making it back up to Carlisle on Sunday for the drawing.
It was sweet! I picked bastet44 up at the philly airport on Friday morning, EARLY! about 7am... smart me had a room from Thursday nite... :D
So we went back, crashed, took a shower, had breakfast and headed west. Got to Carlisle from Philly by 1pm.
Had lunch with Galaxy Eng (JD) and his lovely wife Emily!
Then made our way to the fairgrounds... walked around... and left after the storm hit. To be honest, the storm wasn't THAT bad at Carlisle...sure, it rained, but not super heavy.
Saturday, whilst bastet44 was sleeping in (redeye's will kill ya!), I aimed at McDonalds for breakfast... however, the traffic on 11 from 81 was STOPPED.
I turned around and headed for the Middlesex Diner. If you all did not eat there, shame on you. FABULOUS!!!!!!!!! It is right across from the Super 8 we stayed at.
After breakfast... we made our way into the fairgrounds, getting there about noon. Joined for the group pic and spent the rest of the day walking around with Galaxy Eng and wife!
We left about 5pm or so... just plum tuckered out... had dinner, hung out at the hotel, and then watched the end of the race and crashed!
the down side, I woke up Sunday morning with a seriously sore left wrist! I had no idea what I had done... thought tendonitis, have had that before...
Monday, the sore wrist had developed a red mark and external tenderness. ouch. and it sooooo hurt!
Tuesday, the Dr tells me I have "celluritis" or something like that... man it hurts like the devil....
Well... today, the redness is down, the pain is subsiding and all is well with the world! Antibiotics rock!!!!!!!!

Don't feel bad...it was the very first ticket drawn!
