I have a 1984 Corvette. The lettering that says "Cross Fire Injection" is now all black, and I would like to paint it so it stands out. Does anyone have any suggestions? A paint vendor at Carlisle told me to use nail polish. If it is that easy, I might even try to match my paint.
Craft stores in the car model section have paint pens. It is kind of like a paint magic marker. Use it to paint the letters and take laquer thinner and wipe off the excess with a rag. Wrap the rag tightly around your finger and wet with thinner and wipe across the letters. Repeat untill all the excess is gone. I did this with mine, silver paint, and it looks like new.
Here's mine. I used a thin tipped paint pen. The come in Gold and Silver. The thin tip fits into the letters perfectly. Just take your time. Keep a few Q-Tips and paint thinner close by just in case.
Has anyone tried the kits they sell to refresh the molding? Mine is black, and I like the contrast, but it could use some touching up, along with the lettering.
I like the way yours looks. I want to distinguish mine as well, but I am scared to try. I am no artist & I don't want to mess it up. Isn't there some "kit" "package" somewhere, that I can buy the "stick on pieces, color of my choice" ? Or must I try to do this myself? I feel my hand shaking, as I type. hehe

Ok, new question. I have a can of the Original Paint used to repaint my vette. Do you think w/thin brush, that I could paint the side molding? Would it look okay, mathcing the side mold lettering to my car paint scheme? Thoughts?
Would be nice and subtle, imo. Keep some cleaner near you or some 8000 grit sandpaper. If you get any outside of the indentations, you could clean it up quickly.
The masked a rectangle aroudn the letters in a large block, not between the letters.
I bought that polar white touch up paint that matched my car.
Then I painted inside the letters lighthly at first and did not worry about gettting the paint on the space between the letters.
I would wipe over the surface with a rag to get the surface paint off then
repeat painting after the paint in the letters dried till it was even.
Not hard at all!
Alright, I just did this, but I taped it up then sprayed it with silver. I wiped the excess off the outside flat portion of the lettering with a rag and a little paint thinner with great results. I did both sides in about 5 minutes. Thanks for the idea and the painting tips...
