I read various snippets in other posts alluding to problems caused by improperly cleaning the KN Filter.
Aside from not using the KN Filter cleaning products, can someone please clarify what the problem is?
Over oiling? reinstalling with the filter is still wet?
:iagree: All of the above. Just spring for the K&N cleaning kit. Cheaper at parts store than catalog. and follow directions. pretty simple. dont rush it.
you can always throw your stock AF in there while you wait for it to dry if you have to.
I agree, spring for the $15 or so cleaning kit and follow the directions.
1) rap the long on a flat surface to dislodge debris, but not TOO hard
2) don't use forced water to rinse it, warm tap water works well
3) set it aside to dry, say overnight works well
4) don't over oil it; if so just blot off the excess with a paper towel
If you clean it in the evening it will be ready to oil and install in the morning. It realy isn't a difficlut operation as you will see once you've done it.
