I have a 93 torch red, 6speed with 21k on the clock which I've owned for 5 yrs, it really is a terrific car. The last 6 months or so I've been looking at C5's and have driven several and they an amazing car. I can't believe what GM has done with the C5. I think thats why I'm on fence as far getting one. Are they to refined? I drove a 99 FRC this weekend with the Z51 and was amazed that even with the Z51 how much more comfortable it was than my C4. Almost felt like I was driving in a sedan without the backseat, and what is up with the clutch, it has very little feel to it. I'm not bashing C5's here but am wondering has GM put too much comfort in and taken too much sportiness out?
I agree, somewhat. On the highway you'll think you're in a Caddy except for all the stares! :D
But the performance is all Corvette :smash:
The clutch is so easy thatit takes some attention when you switch between generations but it's true from the C3 to C4 also.
Buy it!
I think the corvette can make improvements in ride and feel - and still be a corvette. There is a big difference between a C3 and C4 - and I am sure the people of 1983 said the same things about the C4. It's still no less of a Corvette then any other generation.
The C5's much stiffer chassis lets you soften the ride without a sacrifice in road grip.

Re: C5's (9T3JIM)
Corvette Magazine (November 03) lists these prices for a used 99 hardtop:
Crummy $18,500, Decent $21,800, Great $22,700, Fabulous $24.200. Heck, these are C4 prices! You can turn these into a Z06 fairly easily per one of my C5 budddies! Listen to Mojo - keep the C4.
I have Z06 and there is plenty of sport about it, I also have 79 and just driving it is sport on its own. Our C4 is somwhere in between like it should! :flag
I have a couple of friends who own C5's & I must say, I would like to get one myself. I may eventually do so, but I grew up wanting a C4. (Dream car thing). The C5, as sweet as it is, just doesn't feel the same to me. It's kinda like a song you love, that was popular when you were in high school. It immediately brings back exact memories of that time in your life. Whereas, there are many wonderful songs that you may hear everyday now, but there is no "memory" behind it, thus no real connection. (probably rambling, sorry.)

Dang!!!!!!!! Thats decent - Maybe I will have to look into that and apply all the new Callaway C5 parts just released
Ever since the C5 first rolled out, I never liked them as far as looks. Over the past year, I've driven 2....aside from straight raw performance (which is great), and I STILL don't like them (I do like the roof design on the coupes).
However, as time marches on, no doubt my attitude will evolve with it. After all, it IS the greatest in a long proud lineage....aside from my goal of having a '68 - '70 C3 someday, I can see the C5 playing a part. All that being said, I would never part from the C4. If I had a choice of only one vette, it would be the C4 :yesnod: :seeya
