Last month while visiting the Corvette Museum I noticed a "non-standard" C5 (Millenium Yellow w/red interior). These used to be called COPO (Corporate Office Production Order) cars. Got to wondering if there were any DOCUMENTED C4 COPO cars? Anyone have pictures, info of web-links?
COPO cars were really done in the 60's and maybe early 70's - About the closest you can possibly get was a Corvette Challenge car from 1988 & 1989 which triggered specific content and the 1987 - 1991 Callaway RPO B2K cars which triggered "SEO Z5G" on cars ordered - that's about all I can think of - even the World Challenge cars were an RPO but didn't have really option content triggers...
Well, if you are talking about 'non-standard' colour combinations, then I know that there where a few yellow 1989 Corvettes built, potientially significant when you figure that GM never officially offered yellow as a colour in '89. But I don't know if this would classify as a 'COPO' (unless there was some way of proving that Chevrolet Central Office placed the order for 'X' number of these cars). And I'm pretty sure there where other cars built like this (with unpublished options), but without confirmation from Central Office there's now way of knowing.
There's also the rhumor's about the automatic ZR1 and convertible ZR1 built for GM employees. If memory serves me correct I think there is said to be more than one of each out there.
