Default THUNDERBIRD OR VETTE?

Hey, I started the daunting task of Dismanteling my dads old 1967 Thunderbird (390 hipo). Im planning on doing a limited rest on it before winter, but then Igot to thinking...Spend $$$ on making this old gem right? OR Make the vette faster?

What do you all think?>

Restore the Tbird and have something sweet for the Car Shows?

or

Make the vette a little faster?

Yeah..but the Tbird is a peice of classic americana.

Onlt thing ive done to it is Dual Twin Chamber Flowmaters, and Cut down Dhrome Corvette sidepipes exiting through the rear bumper. Talk about rumble...oh yeah.

Plus it only has about 65K orginal miles on it. But its been sitting for 6 months.

Save the T-Bird (67' Class ride), you can always make the vette go faster.
Thanks

Yeah, I think ill just work on the Tbird for a while. Vette is already fast...

Plenty of Vettes, not alot of 67 Tbirds!

If it were a '57 T-Bird I'd say restore it; with a '67 I wouldn't do it.

You only need to decide if you want two nice cars. The Vette isn't going anywhere and it sounds like you're realy into the T-Bird, so just do it.

Restore the bird.
I had an uncle who loved tbirds. Had one in his garage with a ton of resto parts from swap meets over the years but never got around to starting his project. Well he died, and his son(my cousin) spent the next 3 years restoring that car. I can only imagine how happy he is to have that car.
just food for thought :blueangel:

It sounds as if you had already made your decision before you even posted, but you can't go wrong either way. Damn, cars are fun, aren't they? :D

Friend of mine did a tbird restore on a 67, lost about $5000 when all was said and done.

Unless you really enjoy bustin your knuckles on an old Ford, save yourself the time and expense.

not my favorite Tbird, but you don't see many of these around anymore. if it's worth saving, go for it!

Yeah, its not the most popular, but it will be worth alot here in a year or so. Ive been tracking the fluctuation of Values over the last 2 years, and right now the 66 Tbird value is skyrocketing.

Heres the stats.

Tudor Landau Hardtop-
Original Perfect black leather interior w/ Stainles steel & Chrome inserts
Swing Away steering column
390 Interceptor BB Engine, with RARE Holly Factory Carberator. (4V-750CFM)
All options except P/L, and Power Trunk.
New Tires, Brakes, and Mufflers

There alot more but I dont feel like tying alot right now...

oh yeah, its really low miles!

It purrs right now, and the tranny shifts really firm!

Needs paint, and a front trim peice.

Got Rearended by a kid (the Tbird was mint) smashed bumper and supports, and destroyed the lower valance, and busted the very very hard to find tail light section!

Idiot kid. I was pullingh out of school i nthe Tbird (vette was getting worked on) and was inching forward see if I could turn. I crept slowly forward then BAM... I pulled to the side as did he...whats the firstthing he did? Threw out a pack of smokes, and lost the lit one in his mouth (only 16yo). He started yelling at me asking me why I slammed on the brakes...We got that all sorted out.

Then he told me not to call the cops, as he had already caused 3 other wrecks, and totalled 2 cars. I didnt call the cops, but my dad made his dad fork over a good deal of money to fix the car. (over $1K). So, it has sat, dormant for over 7 months now. Went out the other day, charged the battery up, hi the key, and she roared to life!

For looking cool, and beeing fast among my peers, VETTE all the way!

For getting looks from the older generation, TBIRD 4 life!
