Hey guys just got my first vette. Problem is hood release not working, feels like it release on passenger side but not drivers side. Is there anything I can do or do I need to take it to the shop?
there is a hood opening tool that you can get from the major catalog houses. but if you do a search on hoods you will find a lot of information. Many have posted on this subject.

Did you try holding the release lever out and have someone pull on the hood. This may work. If it does. clean both locks of all of the grease as well as the hood pins. Put a small coating of silicone grease on the hood pins and locks. This usually works. Check the release cables, they are adjustable. If not, you need the tool in the Mid America book to open the hood.

Do NOT, NOT, NOT pull on the hood!!! The corners of the hood near the windshield where you're pulling are prone to stress fractures--you WILL crack your paint--do NOT pull on the hood. If your cables are out of adjustment more than 1/8 of an inch you will have this problem--so BUY A TOOL to open your hood before you crack the paint...like I did :nonod:
Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I will need alot more help in future. Got a great deal on the car (I think) but it does need a little of this and a little of that. Guy who owned it before just used the car never did a thing for it.
