Default Recognize this bolt?

It's a 13mm head, with 9.8 hardness stamped on it and is ~60mm long. I found it at the end of the driveway today.

I'm thinking it may be to somekind of bracket?

Does anyone recognize it?

The car didn't feel any different while driving today so I'm not even sure if it's from my car or not.

I'm hoping it's just not from my car. :D I was crawling around with a flashlight looking at the bottom of the car, and didn't see any missing bolts. The 13mm bolts I did see were all for brackets such as the sway bar, or for bracing.

Don't recognize it. It's a weird looking sucker, machine screw threads down to the point.

It looks like a typical fender bolt used to attach the fenders or grill work onto a car. Not necessarily a Corvette bolt. It could be used to attach one of the parts to the firewall. If you're concerned, check your fender bolts and parts that are attached to the firewall.

Thanks for the suggestion. I believe those are all 10mm bolts, and are not stamped with a hardness rating.

I have a collection of those in my toolbox from when I was a wrench. Used to find them hidden in the frame of GM cars. It appears when the car was being built if one dropped, pick up another and go on. They used them for everything, usually medium strength brackets on the frame. Doubt it's off the vette but I probably would be looking just as you. Add it to your collection!

Hood mounting bolt?
Thanks for the ideas/suggestions. I'm going to put it in the air this afternoon and see what I can find.

Ok, just got the car off the stands.

I couldn't find one bolt on the car that matched the length of the one I found. There were several for the front clip that had the same head size, and thread shape(threaded to the point) but they were all a good 10mm shorter. Nothing is out of place in the rear, all the brackets have the required bolts.

Guess it didn't come off my car, but it's going in the box 'o stuff anyway :D

Thanks for all your suggestions.

At least now if something falls off, I'll know where to look for a match for this bolt. :leaving:
