Well my Intake has to come off and I was thinking about polishing my Plenum and Runners... If seen lots of em done up and they look great. I have never done it before so need a little info. Like what size grit I need...... Im sure that getting it to look as good as most do takes a lot of time. Should I attempt this or am I opening a "can of worms"? :chevy
I've never polished an intake, but if it's anything like the other aluminum parts I've polished I'd say send it out to have it done. Polishing is a time consuming, nasty job :U
If I do decide to send it out and have someone else polish it. How much am I looking at spending for the Plenum, Runners, Valve Covers and Alt. Bracket? Anyone help me out with this one? Also who do you recomend to do this kind of work.... :seeya
i polished my rims last spring, never again, i'll send them out next time :yesnod:
sanded all the way from 100 grit to 1500 wet, then polished, what a hard job
Between stripping, sanding, polishing, masking and painting inside the of the air-ducts. I put about 6 hours in to each wheel. But, I like the way they turned out and the only other alternative would have cost me more money than I had to put in to it at the time.
I would do it again.
The plenum and runners don't look too bad if you have a power detail sander and alot of sandpaper.
Unless you have the right equipment this is gonna be a nasty job.....Its hard to get around and between those runners and corners.....when I was into street rodding, I had some stuff chrome plated and i was told that most of the cost is in the polishing.....why not send it out and get it plated....would be easier to keep clean..IMO..... :flag
