Has anyone gone to the Eureka Springs Corvette weekend in previous years? It's coming up next week, and I was curious about people's general impressions about it. -Looks like a good time. If I had to guess, I'd say about 1/3 to 1/2 of the club is going. Any 'must see' things, or great places to eat? Thanks! http://www.eurekaspringscorvette.org/
I've been the last 3 or 4 years in a row. It's great, its a small town which makes it unique to see 800 - 1000 vettes in that small of a town. Litterally every parking lot in the town is full of vettes. Unfortunately, I am out of town on business this year during this one, so I'll miss it, but it should be great. Have fun.
I went last year when I still lived in nw AR. I had a blast. Be sure to catch the tech section with Gordon Killebrew on Thursday, if he's going to be there this year. Since I lived in the area, I was able to be there on Thursday afternoon for the autocross, that was fun. Poker run was fun on Saturday. Saturday is the show and I spent most of the day talking with Gordon and even had him look over my car. Don't miss the midnight parade on Friday, it's probably the only time you'll see police egging you on to do burnouts. People line the sides of the road and throw water out for you:D
Since you're leaving town, try to catch the South Caravan follows the famous Pig Trail through the Ozark National Forest, ending at Ozark, Arkansas.
I recommend Sparky's Roadhouse for the best selection of beer in ES, as well as the best burgers. It's on HWY 62 across from McD's. For finer dining I would recommend the Italian restaurant uptown, but I can't remember the name of it. It's in an old Victorian style house, great food. Downtown, the Plaza restaurant has both formal dining downstairs and casual dining upstairs, they are both great choices.
Eureka's a great town, lived there for 4 years. Would love to move back sometime. If you get the chance to get away for a couple hours, a great drive is to go down HWY 23 south to the intersection of HWY 412. Lot's of twistys and elevation changes, and the road has been resurfaced about 5 miles outside town. There is a very nice state park on the road called Withrow Springs, very pretty.
Another great ride is to head west on HWY 62 to the intersection of Indian Creek road. It will be on the left ~10 miles outside town. Follow Indian Creek road around and it will run along the top of a ridge overlooking Beaver lake, beautiful views and recently repaved.
WOW--I live about 2 1/2 hours away!!! I COULD MEET GORDON!!! :D   :chevy :flag
2 1/2 hours?!?! How fast are you planning to drive? It takes me an hour and a half from Springfield.
And yes, the burnouts are a blast. Gotta watch out for morons who can't stay up on the sidewalk, though.
