Well, after a few months of blistering heat and unbearable humidity in Alabama, we seem to be experiencing a bit of a cold snap. It's downright chilly out there today even though the sun is out and the skies are clear.
Anyway, driving back to work after lunch, the engine temp read 177 deg. (right after I left the apartment). I got on a long, straight stretch of road and decided to nail it. Whoa! The car pulled like a freight train through 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears. Noticeable difference in power.
Driving today has been a real treat. After driving through the dog days of summer, cool dry air makes the car feel like someone gave it a shot of nitrous.
:iagree:
Can't wait until we get cooler temps in South Florida...
Of course, we are still a couple of months away...Fall doesn't start for us until December. :D
It seems like the gas pedal travels a bit further to the floor(more performance) when the crisp cool air comes!
On a 95 deg day this summer, I swear my engine felt about 20 hp down. I try not to beat on it on those types of days(try jogging in that heat, think of how your poor engine feels!) but when the cold air comes, I'm like a maniac!! :D :reddevil
12.79 when you dyno 379 horsepower sucks. A lot of it's traction though because I still get trap speeds of 115 on 90 degree nights. I'd like to see what I could get in some good weather. Could go tomorrow.............
Man I know how you all fell,, its bad down here in south texas. Drove to work this morning and it was about 72 degrees and it was like christine was telling me lets get this thing a rolling..... Took the interstate and coming on to the interstate got on it pretty good and lit the back tires up at 45 MPH,,, it got my adrenaline rushing pretty good,,,,,, would have loved to find a mustang.
Thursday suppose to be about 59 inthe morning whooooo uh

:iagree: I definately notice a performance increase with cooler (non 100+ degree temps in Cali). The problem is, the rain starts shortly after the temps drop, so I don't drive the vette anyways. Never know if my wipers are going to turn on & refuse to turn off, like they did the last time I washed the car and turned them on.
Tell me about it. Here in Central Maryland it was sunny and cool all weekend. My wife and I took a 2 hour drive into Penns. Saturday and had a blast on back wooded roads. The top was out and a few times we rolled the windows up and turned on the heat, but the car loved it. I don't think the temp got over 186 all day. (A far cry from my normal 210-220 operating temps in the summer.)
I must be in a good spot in Florida this week. yesterday it was nice only about 76 in temp and the Vette jumped out real hard all day long. :D :steering:
