HELP!!! TIMMING PROBLEMS
BUt I forgot, there is a threaded hole in the intake thats open to the air, I dunno if this may cause it. Also How exactly do I plug up the vacuum lines? Or what is a basic setup of them?
You can plug vacuum lines by buying a set of vacuum plugs. Edelbrock and Holley both make them. Available at most parts stores as well as online.
Make sure distributor vac. line is not connected while setting base idle. Plug the vac. line or just leave line attached to distributor and disconnect at the carb and plug that hole as well. Set base timing to around 6-8*, more or less depending on what engine likes.
Then rev engine to about 3000-3500 and see how much timing is in with vac. line attached, should be about 36-38* total timing. I think I remember all this right.
750CFM is probably a bit much for that car.....just depends on the rest of your package and useage.
Also behind the carb is a fat line that says it plugs to the Brake Booster, also how important is the vacuum canister to the whole system?
Another thing, once when I had the original 350, I just took off the rear Y pipe and ran it just with the CAt alone, it was loud but did not have a too great sound. Anyway, when I started my 406 with the same setup, it sounds like a lawn mower. I dunno, may have to see it tomorrow and put on some mufflers.
