I know you're fairly new to the forum. This topic is covered in full in past discussions. Just look back at least a month or so, and you'll find all the answers and fixes. Yes, I think 240 is too hot, but not terminal. 200-220 is about normal.

IMHO YES!!!!
On the open road, engine tmps shpu;d be less than 190...less than 180 if you subscribe to the cooler is better school of thought!
Several potential problems come to mind
1) your coolant sensor/ guage aren't working
2) You have a themo that is stuck partially open (or partially closed)
3) You have a lot of trash in front of the radiator(remove and clean)
4) You need to change to a 180 thermo
There are many other potential problem areas including blockage in the radiator, collapsed hoses, etc.
