Mothers Clay Bar - any good?
Was considering trying the Mothers Clay bar. My paint is decent, but not great and I want to hold off on a paint job for a year or 2.
Its just got some water spots and such, and still fairly shiny but its just not good enough for me. What is my best option?

I have used Mother's clay bar and liked the results. It does a great job of removing small contaminents from the paint and thus enhancing the shine. But if your water spots are etched into the clear coat you will still see them after the clay bar treatment and probably require a professional detailer to remove. Give it a try, I think the clay bar kit is around $15 or so.

Mothers kit is a good deal...just don't let the clay touch the ground, start with a dust-free car, and put the clay in a zip-loc bag and you'll be able to reuse it.

Haven't tried Mothers yet, but I have tried ClayMagic. Results were awesome recently. I'd definitely recommend a clay even though they're probably all pretty close to each other performance wise cuz either way its gonna get rid of the contaminants and smooth out the paint. Just dont forget to wax afterwards. But before you wax, go over the car with some purified water and buff out whatever clay is still smudged if any.

Mothers claybar is excellent; I did my car with it this season and loved the results. Super smooth finish afterwards- I literally couldn't keep my hands off the car! But I'm with MasterofD- Some of the clay will kinda smudge into the car. So do a 1'x2' or so section at a time, and when done claybaring, rinse with fresh water and wipe with a nice clean cloth. You'll love the results.

I have used both the Zaino and Mothers Clay bar, and there really wasn't a visible difference. I will say that once you use one, it is amazing what it will lift of your paint! Just follow all the tips mentioned earlier and you will not be disappointed.
