Default Voltage readings

What should the voltage gauge read normally at idle?

After warmup mine reads between 13.5-12.5Vdc, depending on accessories that are on.

Mine reads 14.3 to 14.7 all the time, cold or warm. Starting to think I may have a faulty gauge/ Anybody, any advise?

Cold, 14.3 volts, engine hot, 13.3 volts. If you have a heavy electrical load, the alternator cannot deliver its rated current and your voltmeter will read lower.

How old is your battery? Sounds like it is being charged at high rate all the time.

14.7 at idle cold. Then 13.5 warmed up.
And thats with the march pulley system.

Mine reads about 14.1-14.3V when cold, and mid 13s once warmed up.
With all lights and accessories, at idle, it might dip in the 12s slightly, but comes right back up.

You also cant trust your Voltmeter in the dash, mine is off by almost .6V.

Wow...I wished I was that lucky. At idle, with the headlights/foglights/stereo/heater on..my battery voltage reads 11.7. (Probably because I have a 16% underdrive crank pulley withOUT an alternator OVERDRIVE pulley.) I guess it's time that I pulled off that pulley and sold it (since I'm going to be putting MORE strain on the charging system with the new subwoofer.)
