I'M NEW TO THE C4 SECTION. I'VE BEEN ON THE C3 FORUM FOR YEARS. I JUST BOUGHT MY C4 LAST SATURDAY, A RED COUPE.
THE DASH SEEMS TO WORK BUT YOU CAN'T READ IT WITHOUT SUNGLASSES. WHEN I FIRST DROVE THE CAR, THE PREVIOUS OWNER KEPT A PAIR OF SUNGLASSES IN THE CAR AT ALL TIMES FOR THIS REASON. IT LOOKS LIKE THE OUTTER COATING BURNED OFF OR FADED FROM TOO MUCH DIRECT SUNLITE. HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS? I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT TRYING TO SPRAY ON SOME OF THE COATING FOR BLACKING OUT TAIL LIGHT LENSES. WILL THIS WORK? ARE THERE ANY BETTER / OTHER FIXES?
Yes the problem is that your lens are sunfaded.....You can get your cluster rebuilt but it can be rather expensive....Companies will not accept clusters with fadded lenses as a core....You could be charged up to $100 per lense and there are three lenses. The base rebuild fee is around 350 plus the core which you do not have....Call around and see how much more it will be...Mid America offers the service but I'm not sure if they do there work in house...A company called American Corvette rebuilds them in house...Look them up and ask!
Central Coaster......Either all your main bulbs are burnt out or you have a bad connection between the two boards on the inside....when the cluster is flipped on its face and the metal back is removed....I believe it is the prong on the far right that makes this connection. I was able to get my lights in the cluster to stay lit after cleaning the connection....By the way the bulbs are available from Napa...but fairly expensive
