Howdy again guys and gals. Well, the 86 is in my driveway. Will probably finish the trade next week. While im messing around i want to see what the option codes are. I wonder if it's a z=51? where can I find a list of what the service codes mean? It came with leather and thats about all I can tell. The problem with the VATS seemed to be the fact that Dr Bubba got a hold of it. The expanded story I got was that the shifter button wouldnt go down and they attributed that to the security system somehow locking it out. They took out the original switch and replaced it neglecting the fact that this would screw everything up. Well, I put the key in and, sure enough the shifter button would not depress allowing it to shift. Being pretty sure that the security system didnt lock the button I gave it some muscle and it popped free. Shifted right through the selector possitions, no problem. He still has the original keys and the original lock tumbler with the chip reader in it. I may be able to just put the tumbler back in and motor. That would be sweet. Sorry if I'm rambling, A new family member will do that to you. (I mean the Vette, of course). I am now, officially a "White trash GOD" !
Quick way to check is to look at your tire size in relation to the wheels.
If you still have stock Turbine wheels.
The tires should all be P255/50?/VR16 or ZR16 or just P16?
If the wheel appear to be inset into the tires, looks like the tires are too wide for the rims, you have a stock suspension. You have 9.5" wide tires, on 8.5" wide rims.
If the Wheels are almost even with the tires, you have a Z51. 9.5" rims, with 9.5" tires on them. If you have different rims? or want an easier way. Simply look in the compartments behind the seats. If Z51 appears anywhere o nthe list of CODES, you have a Z51.
