Coil Replacement Time?
I started to take things off, and dang, some of it looked a little cooked. I called a good friend of m dads who runs the Parts dept at a local Chevy dealership. He said that the stuff on it, was factory. The button, dist. cap, plugs and wires were all factory. The rotor button was charred, the contact was black, and metled slightly. The lpugs were cut and worn throu in spots. The plugs looked perfect. He looked at the plugs and said that the numbers on them were fro mthe BG factory. And the wires were numbered. The wires were even routed correctly....lol. The cap was the worst of all. The contacts were so badly burned that they seemed to have been melted, then blown apart. PArts of contact were drug arounf the top of the cap.
I replaced it all, and I got better mileage. The only thing is, its still got the factory Coil, and connectors on it. Should I replace these? Or leave well enough alone? If so, what should I put in it?
Unless it's giving you problems, (doubt it with all those melted parts) I would leave it alone.
