How hard is it to replace the "Corvette" emblem on the rear bumper? Are there any clips that fit on the inside of the bumper, or does it just stay on with adhesive?
Reason for asking:
I am just getting my car repainted and am deciding what kind of rear emblem I should put on.
Also, do you think I should paint the rear emblem borders the body color (which will be electron blue), or do you think a silver one would look better?

Re: Replacing the rear bumper emblem (UA89Vette)
When I got my coupe it did not have any add-on letters on the back--only embossed letters. I added plastic letters to the bumper myself. They are self-adhesive. That's the way they came. Two summers now and they look great still! :yesnod:
Back when I had my '86 I replaced the emblem in the back. It's really simple (obviously or I wouldn't have done it :D ). It is adhesive and has 2 tabs that stick into the car so that it aligns perfectly.
Re: Replacing the rear bumper emblem (GoodbyeGirl)
their easy to replace, self adheasive-and you can get them in gold or chrome-
my new one is chrome (plastic of course) and it was only about $30 from chevy
Not too bad to replace. Changed out my original with a gold plated one.
Take a little time as it's bolted inside and adhesive is used to hold it down on the outside.
I used a single edged razor blade to slowly remove the adhesive. Probably
not a good idea but it worked. Saw a post on the forum after I replaced mine mentioning to use dental floss and work it under the emblem (sounds like a MUCH better way to do it) :yesnod: ......less stressful.....
:D
Thanks. It has already been taken off, I was just wondering what had to be done putting it back on.
The painter said it had clips on it (or thats what he thought). I thought :skep: to myself. He wanted to put it back on. After hearing all of this, I'll just do it myself.
