Hello. I am looking to purchase a set of speakers for my '84 corvette. I went on Infinity's site and their size chart told me that the car takes 6 X 9s for the back and 4 X 6s for the front. This is a generic car chart for all brands. Can someone please confirm that these are the corrected sizes for an '84 corvette. Thanks

Re: Speaker size fitting (vinnies87)
For BOSE Corvettes:
Front dash: has mounting holes for 4x6" speakers, but they must be cut out.
Front doors: has speaker enclosure for a 4" speaker. You can fit 6" speakers in here, if you remove the bose enclosure and make a mounting plate for it.
Rear: has speaker enclosures that a 4" speaker will bolt into, or you can remove the enclosure and mount a 6x9" in there. It also has standard holes there. If the speaker is too deep, you might need to adjust it a little, or drill new holes.
If you have the BOSE system, the wiring is not compatible with a normal aftermarket stereo. You don't have to rewire, just hook the factory wires that used to go from the stereo to the speaker AMPLIFIERS, and hook those up to your new speakers.

:iagree: but the C4 is one of the easiest cars in the world to re-wire. Leave the original wiring in case the next owner (if there ever is one) wants it. Also, when I did mine, I skipped the door speakers, because the appear to be a PITA to remove, and installed speakers in the dash.
If you want any advice on the dash speakers, IM or email me. I'll be happy to help. Also check the stereo section, I got a lot of info there when I did mine. Good Luck.

:iagree: I rewired my 'vette also. You can use the stock wiring, despite what some say, but it's pretty puny with not much insulation... it wouldn't hurt to go bigger on.
I ran 12ga to all my speakers.
6x9s in back, and 5.25" components up front (woofer in door, tweeter in dash)
