I took my car out in the rain today and when i got home i steped out of the car and shut the door and the car alarm went off. Dose anybody if its just the rain thats making a short or something (its not the first time), and I was also wondering if anyone had any solutions to the problem. :cuss
I dont know what year you have but on my 93' in the winter the alarm got to where it would go off by itself, turned out it was the door switches turning on the interior lights with the doors closed, also sometimes going down the road the inside lights would come on. Probably not much help but something to check

Come to think of it my interior light have been messing up on me latley
maybe you first pressed the powerlock (while sitting in your car) and opened the door from inside after pushing the manual lock to the right?
in this case, my alarm will run...
i don't really understand in wich cases the alarm will turn on...can anyone tell me an situation with a thief? ;)
My Vette has had 8 of them installed....4 in one day by the dealership....the first 3 didn't even work.
They are plastic garbage and the engineer who designed them needs to be dragged behind my Vette. "Let's make a piece that gets used 20 times a day out of plastic" :mad
Even the cheapest import makes them out of metal
my 91 is doing the same thing .alarm went off 4or5 times by it self.my int lights flashing on and off.had door switch put in on drivers side .seemed ok for a short time but started flashing again ,took the other side off .they said theres nothing wrong with it .sometimes all i have to do is move in my seat and the lights start flashing. :auto:

Re: Car alarm problems (Metz8790)
Actually I had many many many problems with my alarm sys and it probably has to do with the same issue. Since last week I haven't had any probs with it. There seems to be a big problem with battery cable corrosion on C4s for some wierd reason. I think it has to do with the fact that the wheel bays open up to the engine area and let moisture in when it rains or when you go over puddles. It may be other factors, but I believ your main reason is the battery cable connectors. Typically the positive cable. If it's corroded, clean it with a metal brush and put some rust cleaner on the tip. Of course disconnect all battery cables while doing this. Once done put some new battery terminal connectors on and make sure everything's good and snug, tight, but not too tight. This will reset your alarm systems too. Also, replace the battery in your alarm key fob just in case. This is covering all the simple bases and one of these factors I believe was my problem which looks like it's now fixed for the moment. Remember though, these vehicles are infamously known for ghosting with alarm systems. What happens one day may just be a fluke. A temporary kink in the systems computers. Not necessarily anything to be seriously alarmed about. If I listed all the wierd s*** that happened with my vette and its many alarm systems over the time I've owned it..I could literally write a book.

Re: Car alarm problems (Bodhi)
It might be the door ajar sensors (door pins)

Agreed. But while we're on the subject....EVERY C4 OWNER READING THIS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR PINS, THERE'S AN EASY FIX. It may sound white trash, but who cares. Atleast your alarm won't go haywire at 2am from it. Look on your door panel when you open the door. The panel that the door closes in on on the chassis that connects with the door when it shuts. You'll see a little black cylindrical pad about the size of a quarter. Tape a nickel to it or glue one whatever will stay. This will provide extra padding space rather than having to deal with faulty pins. With this, you shouldn't need pin replacements. Why the hell they replace the pins instead of extra padding space is beyond me. Its illogical unless GM is making some sort of secret killing selling crap replacement pins from sweatshop kids in Taiwan or something. LOL. This has fixed my pin problem for well over a year and still no probs with the door tripping...although the alarm had tripped...but that I believe is for battery cable reasons cuz the light goes off when I shut the door. SO the pin problem seems 2 B a thing of the past.:seeya
