Corvette Radio's
Thanks again
Steven
I'm still looking for a replacement with the CD, for mine, but cheaper than the $400.00+ units.
Guess we get what we pay for. Corvette "TAX".
Good Luck

The Blose places amps in each of the speakers. This makes your standard "store bought" HU incompatible with the speaker system. There is an adapter you can buy, but every shop I talked recommended against it. Some people have had success, but eventually your speaker amps will go. They can be repaired, but why bother the sound is still mediocre at best IMO.
You can also buy a Din 1/2 unit, but they are a fair amount of money for not a lot of features IMO.
The above statements will generate more opinions than you will ever care to read. We all have different ideas of what sounds good, and this is just mine.
On my 85, I pulled the Blose HU and replaced it with an Alpine unit, with a Metra kit to fill in the hole. Originally I put 4" Infinity Kapp's in the doors and 6x9 Kappas in the rear. Used the HU unit to power the speakers. All of this was wired independently, with the exception of the constant, switched 12 v power, and the antenna.
Next I added an amp to drive the front speakers and added 5 1/4 CDT components.
Without question the new setup makes the Blose system sound like an old transistor radio.
So as stated in the beginning search the Audio section for Bose replacement or 85, you will find a ton of information.
