I ordered the weatherstrip for the rear deck of my 89 from a chevy dealership and installed it today. That was lots of fun!!!
I have read on this board by more members that G.M. is the only way to order weatherstrip. Once I figured it out, things went fine. About twice as much as after market, but fits and looks great!

Got mine for $60 from Ebay. Quality is excellent, has the reinforced corners. I'm very pleased with it, installed it last weekend. However, maybe it's just me, but every time I have to do anything that involves the rear hatch area, I always wind up all achy and sore because I have to twist in all kinds of strange directions in order to get leverage. Speakers, weatherstrip, carpet, hatch struts; replacing any of these things means I'll have a stiff neck the next day. Thank dog that my hatch weatherstrip won't wear out until another fourteen years have passed.
Go with GM!!! I bought mine at Carlisle, went in relatively easily has reinforced corners etc problem is, it's a little thick and it is now very difficult to get the hatch to latch!! :reddevil
I agree. I just replaced every piece of rubber weatherstripping (Ecklers) on my father's '88 anniversary edition when we painted it and now that it's done, I'm having to replace the weatherstripping around the windshield and targa top with Genuine GM.
It simply doesn't fit the same, the holes don't line up, the rubber is too thick in certain places and doesn't allow the glass to roll up without having the door open. It leaks water, has wind noise and makes the doors hard to close.
Glad to hear that other people have the same problem I have working on their cars. Thought it was my "Ol Age........Since buying this 86 been in strains and positions I haven't been in since my wife and I got married 45 years ago.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! :flag
