Help! Clutch mastercylinder replacement
I am pretty new to the forum, and I need some help with a friends 6spd C4.
He tells me that the clutch master cylinder is in need of replacement, and I am wondering what kind of a job will I be getting myself into? I have a C4 of my own but it is an automatic. Had a lot of C3's and can fix most anything on them, but not used to working on the C4's.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank's in advance :chevy :chevy :chevy
Use a 7mm socket to remove the bolts for the inside panel
Pull the little clip of the clutch pedal to release the master push rod
Remove the side panel - use a 10mm to losen the lower mounting bolt
Remove battery cables
Use a 13mm to remove the battery hold down
Remove battery
Use a 10mm to losen the ECM bolts and position the ECM out of the way
Remove the 9/16ths size metal caliper line
Use a 13mm to remove the two mounting bolts.
You may as well replace the slave while you are at it, only takes a 13mm to remove the bolts and you have to pull it anyways to bleed the system.
Bleeding is done by positioning the slave vertically so the bleeder is at the highest point, then pushing the pedal, open the bleeder, close bleeder when fluid stops flowing and repeat until there is no air. Install the salve and then put it all back together.
That's about it.
