Default Dealership Rant #100293

Looooong rant. Too many things to be mad about:

1) My '94 failed state inspection because it was throwing an air bag code. I hate air bags, but they wouldn't pass it unless the DIC light was off.

2) Had to take it to a dealership since I don't trust myself working on air bags. Knew it'd be bend over time.

3) Got a call that they had to order an air bag module which would run about $850.00 parts and labor.

4) Waited a week for the part to come in since they can't overnight because air bags are explosive devices.

5) Dealership figured out it wasn't the air bag module but some spring that goes through the steering wheel. Wasn't going to charge me the $850, but now it'd be only $450.

6) Get a call today that they have repaired the air bag light, but now by left blinker doesn't blink (just stays lit) and the horn doesn't work.

7) They ask if this was broken before. I told them no, that the ONLY reason it failed was because the light was on for a device I don't really want to work in the first place.

8) Service guy says he'll ask the mechanic if he could've broken the turn signal and horn switch putting this mysterious spring in.

9) 3 weeks in the shop so far. I could've taken an airbag class by now and fixed it myself.

Thanks for the rant. First time ever in a dealership. I do all the work myself or a trusted shop (that couldn't tackle the airbag) :banghead:. I miss my baby.

:mad
I know that feeling all to well. I took my 86 in for an aligment. Waited for about two hours and then they call me. The guy at the service counter tells me that my car could not be aligned. They said the car had a 1 bad lower ball joint in the front, 1 bad wheel hub assembly in the front and 1 in the back. I asked him to give me the price on this. NO BULL@#$% it came to $1,200 plus dollars and NOT including the aligment! I told him there is no f#$% way I was paying $1,200 plus to replace 1 ball joint and 2 wheel hub assemblies. :nono:
I bought a front end rebuild kit for $249 from PST and rebuilt my entire front end myself in my driveway. Never again. :nono:
