I was just watching REAL TV on Spike TV like 2 minutes ago and there were two vetters at a track who both totalled their rides. One was a beautiful blue early model C4(maybe a 90) and the other was a white late model C3. The one in the c4 lost traction around a turn and smashed up the entire engine bay into a wall. It looked like a sardine can being opened. Guy in the C3 offered his condolences to the guy and then minutes later crashed his own C3 into a black muscle car in a spinout and the whole front end of his vette was ripped to shreds. I almost felt a tear come outta my eye...poor vettes. I just wondered if anyone up here was the driver(s) or owns one or both of em. My question has to do with the comment the host said after they showed it. Are vehicles insured at tracks like that if you have full coverage or do you have to get extra insurance for track race accidents?

from what I have seen, wreck your car at a racetrack and YOU are out the bucks, not your insurance co. :nonod:

Nearly evey personal auto policy exlcudes all coverages for a vehicle when being used at or participating in a timed racing event. Beleive it or not, you could even be denied coverage if you are at the track to race and the car could be parked and turned off with no driver and if a tree falls or hail storm you could still be denied coverage.

Unfortunately that's what I was thinking...but I was hoping I was wrong. That's insane. There must be some kind of insurance you can get for it. Probably unreasonably high though if there is. The second guy was seriously pissed in the video...he went berserk swingin at the other guy before they pulled him back. I can see why now. :(

BTW for oldace84 and any others, I think there's a rerun of REAL TV every weekday morning/afternoon sometime around 11am from the night before(so may be on tomorrow). I may be wrong. Check local spike tv listings. It's on channel 48 in Tucson. :chevy

There are insurance companies that will insure race cars and trailers while at the track, but only when the car is not operating under it's own power. I have talked to one of them several years ago when I was bracket racing all the time. The policy also provided protection for your trailer and included tools.
