I have a set of '86 wheels I am selling, and I was fairly sure they too were made of magnesium like my previous stock '85 vette had.
now i have someone saying they are aluminum, not magnesium.
Anyone know for SURE?
Thanks.
I don't rememebr where I saw that the '85 was magnesium. I think it was imprinted inside the wheelwell, but that was like 2-3 years ago. My brain don't go that far back.
There were 2 wheel suppliers for '85, Modern Wheel and Enkei. The latter were a bit lighter so maybe that's where the maganesium rumor started. There were also some magnesium wheels used by the "factory" cars, but they were a wide spoked design. :steering:

Re: '86 wheels question. (darkcarn85)
I read on a website that the Enkei wheels are better, and not used till 86.
I just checked mine in the backyard, and they're Enkei's, or at least the one on top of the stack is. These came off my 85
The Enkei symbol is stamped on the black painted part between spokes, on the outside of the wheel. Looks like a "M" with an upside down "J" attached to it.
