shifter **** design info requested
My son and his gf are thinking of starting a small business making custom cast shifter *****, insignias, logos, etc for cars (I dont think vette guys would go so much for extra insignias and logos but maybe for custom shifter *****).
What would you like to see as far as creative designs, colors, construction materials, pricing, online or catalog ordering?
This aint an ad, Im just trying to get some real world input for my son from guys that I know really love their cars.

One suggestion I would offer is to support the C4 market!! There isn't too much for those of us with A4 or 4+3 shifters.
On the 4+3 shifter note, there would have to be a way to include a momentary switch for the OD unit. Having a design similar to the "flameball" shifter would be :cool:
Another idea for a shifter handle might be a "pistolgrip" design. Hurst did a version for the MoPar muscle cars in the late 60's. Think they came standard on Chargers, Barracudas, and Challengers. Maybe something with interchangable grip materials. Then you could have a selection of materials like carbon fibre, different woods, ivory, or even pearl.
Adding logos might be a problem unless you intend to go through with licensing agreements with the manufacturers. The use of quality materials, whatever the choice, is one thing that will help sales and reputations. Stay away from cheap plastics or anything that will not stand up to years of use. The ability to order online is a big help, but the website should provide the latest and greatest security software for ordering. Lots of high-res pictures of products, especially installed on a variety of cars.
