Theres no threads for the shift ****. It slides down on the shifter and you tap a wedge into the top just under the shift pattern button to lock it in place. Pry the shift pattern button out and youll see what I mean. I used a pair of vise grips and a hammer to pull it out. The tapped it back in lightly with the hammer after replacing the ****.

Not sure of the thread pattern or size, but I have threads on my shifter that I thread my shift **** onto before I put the lock into place.

I have replaced mine, twice, and have the stock one and a Mid America one if anyone is interested... Right now I have my dad's old shift **** from his 70 Vette on there. I like it!

There ARE threads on the 6-speed shifter. You sure you ever took yours off.

The thread pattern is "9/16"-18 thread for '89-96 C4 6-speed "
