Can anyone tell me, or point me in the right direction on this?
Occasionally my check engine light comes on, just for a minute or so then goes off. It has only happened three times but that light scares me
The engine is cold, only running for a few seconds and I'm pretty sure the fan kicks in though it is cold. (Dash lights dim for a sec cause the voltage drop) Light comes on and then about a minute later turns off. Idles, accelerates stops just fine during this all. Only on really cold days.(45 is really cold to me haha South Texas!) and just once each time - if that helps?!

I'd have the alternator checked and make sure the batt's cable connectors aren't loose. Actually that never happened to me before(It is coming on AFTER you start the engine right?) except this one time when I hit a huge friggin pothole under my right rear tire. It would pretty much do the same thing for about a minute after I started the car. Then it went off while I was driving. I didn't have the voltage prob though thas why I say it might be alternator related. What I did to rectify the prob was I had all 4 wheels aligned. Turns out the wheels were so off balance...the back would've blown had I waited another few days or so. Caught it just in time. After the alignment...no probs whatsoever with the check engine light. Also it could just be a bad ECM code trip or something to that effect.

BTW you said it's cold weather related....I do get an odd effect every now and then when it's about that temperature. But it's in the first key turn mode before actual ignition. My fans are wired for auto when I turn it the position 1. What happens is the sytem readout from the thermostat on the dash goes blank and it sounds like the AC kicks on real heavy. I turn off the car and start it in porition 1 without starting the ignition and No probs whatsoever. I still dunno what it is. I never started it in that mode when it does that and neither should you if that's what you're getting. Just thought u should know. ECM behaves wierd the first key turn after super cold weather...atleast that's my experience. Wait a second or third turn in position 1 before starting the ignition and see what happens. ;)
